Signals
Signals in LOOTCoin
Signals are the core location-based communication mechanic inside LOOTCoin.
A Signal is a digital object anchored to a real-world location on the map. It contains structured content and enhanced messaging that players can discover by physically moving through space. Signals can be placed, moved, and edited by the player who controls them.
Signals are defined by the user. They can be personal messages, business-oriented notices, creative drops, event markers, or digital graffiti. The system does not dictate meaning. The player decides what the Signal represents.
At a basic level, a Signal is a discoverable point on the map. At a higher level, it becomes a way to guide movement, share information, or structure a real-world hunt.
What a Signal Looks Like
Each Signal has two primary views.
Map View
-
Appears as an interactive marker on the real-world map
-
Has a defined discovery radius
-
Can be repositioned by its owner

Designed for clear, readable, mobile-first interaction
Signals are not static posts. They are location-bound, interactive map objects.
Personal Test Signal, No NFT Required
Every player automatically receives a personal test Signal.
This Signal:
-
Is private to the player
-
Can be viewed and edited freely
-
Requires no Signal NFT
-
Demonstrates how placement and editing work
-
Allows experimentation with positioning and range
The personal test Signal exists so anyone can understand and use the full Signal interface without minting or purchasing anything.
It functions as a sandbox.
Signal NFTs
Signal NFTs allow players to deploy additional Signals beyond their personal test Signal.
These Signals can be used to:
-
Place discoverable markers on the shared map
-
Create structured hunts
-
Build layered location-based experiences
-
Establish a persistent presence in specific areas
-
Publish public-facing messages at scale
Signal NFTs expand scale and strategy, while the core mechanic remains accessible to everyone through the personal test Signal.
Gameplay Mechanics
Signals drive exploration.
Players move through real-world space. When entering the discovery radius of a Signal:
-
The Signal becomes visible
-
The full message can be opened
-
The player can interact with its content
Signals can be:
-
Personal notes anchored to meaningful places
-
Business or promotional markers
-
Creative art pieces or digital graffiti
-
Multi-location paths guiding players across a city
Signals can be relocated and updated. They are flexible map infrastructure shaped entirely by player intent.
Why Signals Matter
Signals transform the map into a dynamic layer of player-created structure.
They create:
-
Physical movement incentives
-
Creator-driven map presence
-
Real-world interaction loops
-
Strategic placement decisions
-
Open-ended expression in shared space
Every player begins with a personal test Signal.
Those who want broader reach expand through Signal NFTs.
Signals are the foundation of the LOOTCoin hunt system and the canvas players use to define what the map becomes.
